Due to Hurricane Sandy, multiple Colleges have pushed back freshman application deadlines. According to umd.edu, The Freshman Fall 2013 Priority Application Deadline has been extended until 11:59 PM on November 9, 2012. Per an e-mail from UMBC that was sent to all prospective applicants, the priority application deadline is extended until November 8, 2012
The Wingspan received its initial report that schools were closed from the HCPSS website (www.hcpss.org) at 5:59 p.m. However, after we published the closing, HCPSS withdrew the statement from their site. Due to the fact that there are 12 schools without power: Howard County will decide whether or not schools will be open tomorrow, by 6 PM today. Stay tuned to The Wingspan to find the fate of HCPSS schools.

The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) has just announced that due to the threatening storm conditions, schools will be closed tomorrow, October 30, as well. This includes all school related activities, such as athletic events and extracurricular activities.
