Launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (Kyle Simpson)
Activision Publishing has, yet again, broken sales records. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has become the biggest entertainment launches of all time. Modern Warfare 3 sold 6.5 million units on the first day, grossing $400 Million. Over one million people showed up at 13,000 stores to pick up the game at midnight.
Despite early predictions that Modern Warfare 3 would be out done by it’s main competitor, Battlefield 3, it out sold Battlefield by approximately 1.5 million copies.
This is the third year in a row that a Call of Duty game has broken a sales record.
